Women in Aviation
Women in Aviation at BFC
Women remain significantly underrepresented in aviation. In Canada, only about 6% of private pilots and approximately 4.5% of Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) holders are women. Brampton Flight Centre is committed to changing these numbers by actively encouraging and supporting women who want to fly.
BFC has a proud history of training women pilots, from recreational flyers to professional airline captains. We believe that aviation is for everyone, and we work to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all aspiring pilots.
The Ninety-Nines Partnership
BFC is proud to partner with The Ninety-Nines, Inc. — the International Organization of Women Pilots. Founded in 1929 by 99 women pilots (including Amelia Earhart as the first president), The Ninety-Nines today is a worldwide organization promoting advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support.
The local chapter is actively involved at BFC, mentoring new student pilots and hosting events throughout the year.
Bonnie Rampulla Award
BFC presents the Bonnie Rampulla Award annually to recognize an outstanding female student pilot at the club. This award honours the memory of Bonnie Rampulla and her dedication to flying. The recipient is chosen based on achievement, dedication, and passion for aviation.
The award is presented at the annual Wings Celebration event.
