Safety & Security
Safety is the top priority at the Brampton Flying Club. BFC operates a comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) that encompasses all aspects of flight training, airport operations, and club activities. Every member plays a critical role in maintaining our safety culture.
Safety Management System (SMS)
BFC's SMS is built on a non-punitive reporting philosophy. We encourage all members, staff, and students to report occurrences and hazards without fear of punishment, except in cases involving criminal intent, gross negligence, or substance use. By investigating root causes rather than assigning blame, we can identify and correct systemic issues before they lead to incidents.
Safety Policy
A documented company safety policy establishes the framework for our safety culture and management commitment.
SMS Management Plan
A structured plan that outlines how safety is managed, monitored, and improved across all BFC operations.
CASO
The Chief Aviation Safety Officer oversees the SMS and is the primary contact for all safety-related matters.
Occurrence Reporting
A formal process for reporting occurrences, hazards, and near-misses to ensure continuous safety improvement.
Safety Committee
A dedicated committee that reviews safety data, investigates reports, and recommends corrective actions.
Safety Education
Ongoing communication and training programs to keep all members informed about safety practices and lessons learned.
How to Report
If you observe a safety concern, hazard, or occurrence, we encourage you to file a report promptly. There are two ways to submit a safety report:
Paper Form
BFC Occurrence Reporting Forms are available at the front desk. Complete the form and submit it to the CASO (Anu Vincent).
Online Report
Submit your report online through the BFC SMS reporting portal for quick and convenient filing.
Submit Online ReportAirport Security
The Brampton-Caledon Airport participates in the Airport Watch Program, which relies on two key principles:
Lock Up
Always secure hangar doors, security gates, and use aircraft locks. An unsecured facility is an invitation to tampering.
Look Out
Report any unusual or suspicious activity immediately. Being vigilant protects the entire airport community.
Important Reminder
Tampering with aircraft is a federal offence. If you witness suspicious activity, report it immediately to the front desk (ext. 0), the Airport Administrator (nanci@bramfly.com), or after-hours security at 1-800-387-5956.
