PPL Licence Sign-Off
After you pass your PPL flight test, BFC will process your licence application with Transport Canada on your behalf. This page outlines the required documentation and the sign-off process.
PPL Sign-Off Details
- Processing Time: 3-7 business days
- Sign-Off Fee: $160 + tax
Required PPL Sign-Off Package
You must provide the following 9 items to the BFC front desk to initiate your PPL sign-off:
After Your PPL
Once your PPL is issued, you can begin working towards additional ratings and endorsements:
- Night Rating — Fly at night. Requires additional dual instruction and solo night circuits.
- Multi-Engine Rating — Fly multi-engine aircraft such as the Piper Seminole.
- Instrument Rating (IFR) — Fly in cloud and reduced visibility conditions using instruments only.
- Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) — Fly for hire and compensation.
Rating Sign-Offs
Additional rating sign-offs (Night Rating, Multi-Engine Rating, Instrument Rating) follow a similar process. After passing the relevant flight test, submit the required documentation to the BFC front desk.

CPL Licence Sign-Off
CPL Sign-Off Details
- Processing Time: 5-7 business days
- Sign-Off Fee: $210
The CPL sign-off package includes:
- Completed CPL flight test report
- Pilot logbook with all required hours (minimum 200 hours total time)
- Transport Canada CPAER written exam results
- Valid Category 1 medical certificate
- Radio Operator Certificate
- Completed CPL Flight Training Program document
- Government-issued photo ID
- Two passport-size photographs
