Annual Wings Celebration
Each year, the Brampton Flying Club hosts the Annual Wings Celebration, an awards ceremony recognizing the outstanding achievements of our students, graduates, and instructors. The event brings together the entire BFC community to celebrate the dedication and accomplishments of those who have earned their wings during the year.
The Wings Celebration features formal award presentations, guest speakers from the aviation industry, and an opportunity for members to connect and celebrate their shared passion for flight. Tickets are available through Humphrey's Pilot Shop.
Awards
The following awards are presented at the Annual Wings Celebration:
R.A.A. Award
Presented to the youngest pilot to graduate from BFC in the previous year. Recognizes the promise and dedication of our youngest achievers.
Bonnie Rampulla Trophy
Awarded to the top female Private Pilot Licence graduate, based on the highest combined average of flight test and written exam scores.
Top Private Pilot Graduate Trophy
Recognizes the Private Pilot Licence graduate who achieved the highest overall average score in their flight test and written examination.
Charter Members Trophy
Awarded to the top Commercial Pilot Licence graduate, recognizing the highest combined average score across all examination components.
Ryan Sumere Memorial Fund
Presented to a student who has demonstrated outstanding effort and determination in learning to fly or upgrading their licence or rating.
Rick Wynott Aviation Memorial Award
Recognizes a Commercial Pilot student who has shown outstanding effort and dedication throughout their training program.
Porter Star Award
A peer-nominated monetary award that also includes a First Officer interview opportunity with Porter Airlines. Recognizes overall excellence among career program graduates.
Jazz Aviation Pathway Awards
Two awards presented in partnership with Jazz Aviation: the Pathway Award for Professionalism (safety, leadership, and professionalism) and the Pathway Award for Professionalism and Diversity (same criteria for self-identified aboriginal, disabled, visible minority, or female students). Both include an opportunity to participate in the Jazz APP selection process.
Bud Young Trophy
Recognizes the top flight instructor at BFC for the year, honoring excellence in teaching, mentorship, and dedication to student success.
Attend the Next Wings Celebration
The Wings Celebration is a highlight of the BFC calendar. Tickets are available for purchase at Humphrey's Pilot Shop or online through the BFC shop. The event is open to all members, graduates, instructors, and their families.
