College Program Curriculum
Program Overview
The College Program curriculum is a 14-month, full-time course of study comprising over 700 hours of instruction. The program is divided into 6 progressive training segments, each building on the previous one. Upon successful completion, graduates hold a Commercial Pilot Licence, Multi-Engine Rating, Group 1 IFR Rating, and a Professional Pilot Diploma.
The 6 Training Segments
Segment 1: Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
The foundation of your pilot training. You will learn the fundamentals of flight including aerodynamics, navigation, meteorology, air law, and aircraft systems. Flight training is conducted on Cessna 172 aircraft.
- Ground school covering all PPL subjects
- Dual and solo flight training on Cessna 172
- Solo cross-country navigation flights
- Transport Canada PPL written exam and flight test
Segment 2: Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
Building on your PPL skills, you will develop the advanced airmanship and knowledge required for the Commercial Pilot Licence. This includes the Night Rating, qualifying you to operate at night.
- Advanced ground school: commercial air law, advanced meteorology
- Commercial manoeuvres and precision flying
- Night flying training and Night Rating
- Long cross-country flights for hour building
- Transport Canada CPL written exam and flight test
Segment 3: Multi-Engine Rating

- Multi-engine ground school
- Piper Seminole flight training
- Engine failure and asymmetric handling
- Multi-engine flight test
Segment 4: Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Rating
The Group 1 IFR rating qualifies you to fly in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC). Training includes simulator sessions and flight training on the Piper Seminole, covering instrument navigation, approaches, and procedures.
- Instrument ground school
- Simulator training (Redbird and Elite)
