Tips for Optimizing Your Bookings

Book Early

Aircraft and instructor availability can be limited, especially during peak flying months (May through October). Book your flights as far in advance as possible to secure your preferred times. Regular weekly slots are the best way to maintain consistent training progress.

Book Aircraft and Instructor Together

When booking dual lessons, make sure to book both the aircraft and your instructor for the same time slot. Booking only the aircraft without the instructor (or vice versa) may result in a scheduling conflict.

Allow Enough Time

A typical training flight requires the aircraft for approximately 2 hours (pre-flight briefing, pre-flight inspection, flight, and post-flight debrief). For solo practice, 1.5 to 2 hours is typical. Make sure your booking slot is long enough for the planned activity.

Cancel Early if Needed

If you cannot make a booking, cancel it as soon as possible so that the aircraft and instructor time become available for other members. BFC requires a minimum of 48 hours notice for cancellations. See the Cancellation Policy for details.

Check the Weather

Monitor the weather before your flight. If conditions are clearly not suitable for flying, cancel your booking early to free up the slot for another day. Visit our Weather Links page for aviation weather resources.

Be Flexible

If your preferred aircraft or time is not available, consider alternative aircraft types or different time slots. Early morning and midweek slots are often less busy and can be easier to book.
