IATPL - Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence
The Aviation Industry Needs Pilots
The aviation industry is experiencing an unprecedented pilot shortage. Major airlines across Canada and around the world are actively recruiting new pilots. Boeing forecasts that over 600,000 new commercial pilots will be needed globally over the next 20 years. There has never been a better time to pursue a career as a professional pilot.
Regional carriers such as Jazz Aviation, Porter Airlines, and others are offering pathway programs and mentorships to attract new pilots directly from flight schools. BFC graduates are taking advantage of these opportunities and flying for airlines within months of completing their training.
About Brampton Flight Centre
Brampton Flight Centre, known in the aviation community as BFC, is the flight training division of the Brampton Flying Club. Operating since 1946, BFC is a not-for-profit organization and one of the most respected flight training units in Canada. We operate a fleet of 27 aircraft and advanced simulators from our base at Brampton-Caledon Airport (CNC3), located just northwest of Toronto, Ontario.
BFC is registered as a Career College under the Ontario Career Colleges Act and is a Transport Canada approved flight training unit. Our IATPL program is the most comprehensive ab-initio airline pilot training program available in Canada.
The IATPL Program
The Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (IATPL) program is a 20-month, full-time career program that takes students from zero flying experience to airline-ready. The curriculum has been designed in consultation with airlines and includes components not found in any other Canadian flight training program.
Key Features
- 20-month intensive, full-time program

- 7 training segments from Private Pilot Licence through to advanced airline preparation
- CAE Level D full-motion simulator training (B737 or equivalent)
- Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) training
- Jet Orientation Training (JOT)
- Advanced courses in CRM, meteorology, high altitude, and RVSM operations
- ATPL written exam preparation and completion

Airline Training Partnership
BFC is the only flight school in Canada to include CAE Level D full-motion simulator training as part of its standard career program curriculum. Students train on the same simulators used by airline pilots for recurrent training and type ratings. This experience gives BFC graduates a significant advantage when they begin airline training.
Our pathway partnerships with Jazz Aviation and Porter Airlines provide graduates with direct entry and mentorship opportunities. Many of our graduates are now First Officers at major Canadian regional airlines.
